Roof Repairs

When the roof fails at the worst moment, someone answers

Roof emergencies rarely happen at a convenient time. A gale lifts a run of tiles, a branch comes down on the roof, a ridge collapses or water suddenly starts pouring through a light fitting. Our emergency line is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you can speak to someone who understands roofs and can tell you what to do first.

The first job is to stop the water and make the roof safe. That usually means a temporary repair: sheeting over the damaged area, refixing or replacing loose tiles, or clearing debris that could fall. We get to you as quickly as we can, and the same day where we can, depending on the weather and how many calls a storm has brought in.

Once the roof is weathertight, we come back to carry out a permanent repair, with a free written quote first. If the damage was caused by a storm or a falling tree, we can set out the damage and the repair for your insurer, backed up with photos and drone footage of the roof.

See your roof from above before you decide

Most roof problems cannot be seen from the garden. Our drone survey gives you clear pictures of the tiles, ridge, valleys, chimney and guttering, so you can see the damage we are talking about and understand why the work is needed.

It is free and there is no obligation. If the roof is sound, we will tell you so. If it needs work, the images sit alongside your written quote, and they are useful if you are making an insurance claim for storm damage.

Pricing

What affects your emergency roof repair quote?

Every roof is different, so we price your job after looking at it, usually with a free drone inspection first. These are the things that make the biggest difference.

01

Time and conditions

Work carried out at night, at weekends or in poor weather takes more care and resources than a planned repair on a dry weekday.

02

Temporary or permanent

A make-safe with sheeting is a smaller job than the permanent repair that follows, so the two stages are usually priced separately.

03

Scale of the damage

A few slipped tiles is very different from a collapsed ridge, a holed flat roof or water damage spreading across several rooms.

04

Getting up there

Height, roof pitch and what lies underneath, such as a conservatory or a busy pavement, decide whether ladders will do or scaffolding is needed.

FAQs

Emergency roof repair questions answered

What counts as a roofing emergency?

Anything that is letting water into your home right now, or that could fall and hurt someone, is worth treating as an emergency. That includes tiles or slates blown off in a storm, a leak through a ceiling or light fitting, a damaged chimney pot and debris lying on the roof. If you are unsure, call the line and we will help you judge it.

How quickly can you get to me?

We get to emergencies as quickly as we can, and the same day where we can. How soon depends on where you are, the weather and how many people a storm has affected at once. When you call, we will be honest about when we expect to reach you rather than promise a time we cannot keep.

What should I do while I wait for an emergency roofer?

Keep away from any area where tiles or debris could fall, and never go up on the roof yourself. Inside, move belongings away from the leak, put down buckets and towels, and switch off the electrics for that area at the fuse board if water is near light fittings or sockets. Take photos of the damage, as these help with any insurance claim.

Will my insurance cover emergency roof repairs?

Sudden storm damage is often covered by home insurance, while gradual wear and tear generally is not, but every policy is different and the decision rests with your insurer. What we can do is carry out insurance work, recording the damage with photos and drone footage and setting out the repairs needed so your insurer has a clear picture.

Is the emergency visit the end of the job?

Usually not. The first visit is about stopping water and making the roof safe, which often means a temporary repair. Once conditions allow, we inspect the roof properly, often with a free drone inspection, and give you a free, no-obligation written quote for the permanent repair, with the guarantee details confirmed on the quotation.
